Stopping activation on a release version

Is it possible to stop people from activating license or trial on a particular application version ?

There is no concept of application version. You have products and versions can be set using license metadata. How have you have implemented the versions?

Related question: my use case has permanent licenses for one program version (user A: v19.1) and lease licenses with version upgrades (user B: v19.1, v20.1, …). If I publish a new release, will all users get access to it? How do I prevent user A from using the new version? Introducing metadata for each version?

With each license you can associate metadata like max_allowed_version to implement your usecase.
